Nutritional Problems of Toddlers And Its Relationship With Indonesia's Public Health Growth Index
Malnutrition is still a central issue in various countries in the world, including Indonesia, as for various
factors that cause this problem to be very complex starting from poverty, purchasing power, nutritional
knowledge, family size, eating habits, and several other factors. Meanwhile, according to the Agency for
Health Research and Development in 2010 Basic Health Research, the number of children under five in
Indonesia was 26.7 million. Of this amount, 17.9% or 4.7 million children under five suffer from
malnutrition and 5.4% or 1.3 million children under five suffer from malnutrition. This nutritional status
is important because it is one of the risk factors for morbidity and mortality, especially in infants and
children. A good nutritional status for a person will contribute to his health and also to the ability in the
recovery process, on the other hand, toddlerhood is a period of growth that requires good nutrition. The
main nutritional needs recommended by the Ministry of National Health include five basic components,
namely carbohydrates, protein, fat, minerals and vitamins (including sufficient deep water).
Furthermore, there is a close relationship between mother's level of knowledge, mother's education,
family income, infectious diseases, energy consumption level, protein consumption level and nutritional
status in children
