Faktor-Faktor yang Berhubungan Dengan Kepatuhan Diet Pada Pasien Diabetes Melitus Tipe II
iabetes is one of the non-communicable diseases caused by an increase blood glucose
in the body. Diet is one management of DM to prevent complications. Patient compliance
with diet programs is one of the obstacles in patients with diabetes mellitus. The success
of diet compliance is influenced by knowledge factors, family support and support from
health workers. This study aimed to determine the factors related with diet compliance in
patients with type II diabetes mellitus at the Internal Medicine Polyclinic of Dr. Dradjat
Prawiranegara General Hospital in Serang. The design of research was nonexperimental with quantitative methods and uses descriptive correlational with a crosssectional design, univariate and bivariate analysis. Population and samples were 81
people with diabetes mellitus and selected by accidental sampling technique. The results
of the analysis of Univariate variables of high knowledge were 70.4%, the Compliance
Diet variable was in the good category that is 88.9% and the support variable for health
workers with the good category was 77.8%. The chi-square test results showed there is a
relations between knowledge (0.050), family support (0.025) and health workers support
(0.007) to diet compliance of diabetes mellitus. To conclude there is a relations between
knowledge, family support and support from health workers to diet compliance of
diabetes mellitus. The researcher suggests hospitals to increase efforts to manage
diabetes mellitus by making peer groups, improving therapeutic communication, and
conducting an audio-visual counseling activity about the importance of diet compliance
for diabetes mellitus patients.
